<h4 class="in" style="text-decoration: underline;">Synopsis</h4>
Dans le Montréal des années 90, Laurence Alia est un jeune et brillant
professeur de littérature, qui vit en couple avec sa petite amie, Fred.
<br />Lorsque Laurence lui annonce son intention de devenir femme, Fred accepte ce choix et se lance dans l'aventure…

<br />Mais rien n'est simple et leurs destins vont se trouver bousculés par ces choix.
<br />
<br />Après <i>J’ai tué ma mère</i> et <i>Les Amours imaginaires</i>, le
tout jeune Xavier Dolan (23 ans) signe ici un film bouleversant, d'une
maîtrise formelle et narrative impeccable. Visuellement somptueux et
porté par des dialogues drôles et incisifs, <i>Laurence anyways</i>
happe le spectateur dans un tourbillon d'émotions en refusant toujours
la facilité (ce qui ne veut pas dire que le film soit « difficile
d'accès », bien au contraire).

<br />Melvil Poupaud trouve enfin là un rôle à la mesure de son talent et Suzanne Clément s'affirme comme une véritable révélation.
